A chromatic confocal multipoint sensor with 20µm axial and lateral resolution was developed at the ILM. The measuring volume that can be captured within one image is 11x11x11mm3. The data rate is 36kHz. Due to the simultaneous multi-point scanning, the method is very robust and can be used for industrial inline applications.
The data rate, the measuring volume and the resolution can be adapted to your application. The strength of the method lies in its ability to measure the topography of volume-scattering media (teeth, plastics, etc.) with high precision, see illustration with measurement of a jaw model.
