Joint research proposal. Or do you prefer direct commissioning?

The ILM's core task is to support companies in the development of new optical or photonic devices or processes. For the development of a product we offer companies

our competencies in the form of exclusive contract projects. If there is still a considerable need for research for the project, the joint application for igrants is an option.

This is what we can do for you in the field of photonics and optics:

Commissioned projects

Our commitment to your company can begin with the joint generation of product ideas and does not have to end with the realisation of a prototype. If required, this can be followed by device testing and marketing support through the creation of illustrative material, presentations or training of customers.

We can do that for you:

  • Literature and patent searches
  • Feasibility studies
  • development work: optical design,
  • electronics and mechanical design,
  • Functional model design,
  • Software
  • Application testing and optimization
  • Prototype design
  • Documentation
  • Marketing support
  • Trainings

Procedure, costs, IP

After defining the contents, we will prepare a transparent offer with time frame, costs and, if necessary, milestones. The existing expertise and infrastructure are available to our customers free of charge. This makes the processing of a project at the ILM efficient and cost-effective.
We always find fair arrangements for the use of IP.

Funding projects

The ILM is the ideal pathfinder for findings from applied research into practical applications.

Through publicly funded projects we develop our know-how, which we transfer into practice through projects with companies. In order to strengthen the practical relevance, we are happy to involve companies already when applying for subsidies, in project-accompanying committees or as project partners.

Supporting the R&D activities of SMEs is of particular concern to us. The proportion of projects specifically tailored to SMEs (ZIM, KMU innovativ) is particularly high at the ILM. If required, we advise our partners in the application process.
