Scattered light based particle analysis

Optical particle counters, which operate according to the light blockade principle, are suitable for monitoring many processes due to their high flow rates. Using a method based on the Mie theory, developed at the

ILM developed an algorithm with which the sensor data can be interpreted much more accurately, resulting in higher precision and independence from material-specific calibration.

Offerings in the domain of particle counting

  • Precise determination of the number of particles in liquids
  • Exact size determination of sphere-like particles
  • Correction of typical measurement errors caused by deviating refractive indices

particle counting
Comparison of the sizes of THP-1 cells determined using a commercial particle counter. The comparison with the light microscope image shows the significantly more precise determination of the size using the algorithm developed at the ILM.
