Phantoms: decisive objects

For the validation of, for example, measuring devices for determining the optical properties of scattering materials and as test objects for physics-based rendering, model media with precisely known optical and geometric properties are extremely important. These phantoms are

produced at the ILM in liquid and solid variants. The optical scattering and absorption properties are spectrally resolved measured with high precision.

Examples of epoxy resin based phantoms with different scattering and absorption coefficients

  • Axially layered phantoms
  • Radially layered phantoms (see picture)
  • Hemispherical phantoms
