Courses for laser safety officers according to OStrV

Several times a year we offer training courses to acquire the qualification as laser safety officer according to OStrV / TROS for laser users in the environment of clinic, practice and laboratory.

The course is recognized as an advanced training with 9 advanced training points by the Landesärztekammer Baden-Württemberg.

Who should participate?

A laser safety officer must be appointed and notified to the competent authority in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance on Artificial Optical Radiation - OStrV and the Technical Regulations on Optical Radiation (TROS) "Laser Radiation" derived from it when operating laser equipment of Class 3R, 3B and 4.
The course is intended for all those who use lasers in the medical field, from doctors and medical assistants to laboratory personnel or medical technicians.

Laser safety courses

The content and scope of the courses are such that the course participants can acquire the knowledge required to acquire the expertise for laser safety officers as required by the regulations of the professional associations (VBG) or the statutory accident insurers (GUV).
We pay special attention to a good understanding of the interaction of laser radiation with biological tissue, as this is, from our experience, very important for the safe operation of lasers as well as for an understanding medical application.

Course contents

The course contents can be divided into the following blocks:

  • Fundamentals of light and light propagation
  • Physics of the laser
  • Interaction of laser light and biological tissue
  • Clinical applications of the laser and forms of therapy
  • Laser safety in theory and practice
