The optical characterisation of the tissue to be imitated and the starting components is decisive for the quality of the optical phantoms to be produced.
Various measuring systems are available for this purpose at the ILM within the Centre for the Determination of Optical Properties (ZOE).
Ullbricht sphere measuring systems for spectrally resolved determination of the optical properties of scattering samples
Collimated transmission for determining the spectral extinction coefficient of weakly scattering samples
SFDI for measuring the spatially resolved distribution of optical properties of absorption and scattering of strongly scattering samples
Ellipsometer for determining the refractive index
Goniometric measurement methods for determining surface scattering in the far field and for determining the phase function
